Qor di Balena

Such a unique experience from the food and the hospitality! Incredible! This restaurant has turned food and cooking into an art. Every dish that we ordered had a very distinct and unique take on it. From the presentation to the taste it was nothing like I’ve ever had before. And hospitality is 20 / 10. Never had such a dining experience such as this. Just amazing. Thank you for such a wonderful meal!

Lovely place for some tasty Asian food with a twist, reasonably priced. Very big wine selection. Very nice owner (we only assume because we never asked that question) he explained the menu and advised on how much we should order. He will cater to your needs and will take very good care of you. This restaurant is a hidden gem of Bergamo (literally because is hard to see from the street, which is kind of bad thing because people might pass by without realising) really worth trying, eel and beef are finger licking dishes.

I hate being one of those people who write a review without having dined at a restaurant, but when it's warranted because of unfriendly hosts it is warranted. We arrived at Qor di Balena at 650pm noting that Google said it opened at 6pm. Two men were hovering outside and no one was dining inside. We looked for a sign to make sure this was the right restaurant (as there was no name) and to confirm it opened at 6pm (which the opening times on the front door confirmed). While we were doing this, the two men outside just stared at us and said nothing. We then proceeded to enter, and as we opened the door, one of the men finally spoke and tersely said "We are fully booked." The issues with this are manifold: 1) You don't assume someone doesn't have a reservation, you ask "Hello, how are you this evening, do you have a reservation?" Otherwise you are judging based on appearance. 2) Even if someone doesn't have a reservation, you should offer to book them on another occasion. Unless of course you are judging them based on appearance and don't want them back. 3) You should explain why your restaurant claims to open at 6pm on Google and your front door, has no diners at 650pm, yet cannot accept you. It's totally fine if you are fully booked, but an explanation is the kind thing to do. For those that have read my other reviews on various platforms, I have now dined at 149 Michelin starred restaurants around the world. Good customer service is based on kindness and respect for all. Not eyeing potential patrons who are trying to figure out a situation for a minute and waiting for them to open the door so you can have your power trip moment to be haughty/rude to them. Because of this, we will not try to dine at Qor di Balena again on this trip. Instead, back to Ukraine (where I live and work) to try to do the right thing with kindness (which is what Qor di Balena seemingly cannot do for something far simpler).

This is unusual place for dinner with friends or beloved one(s). Cool atmosphere, nice chill out music and best of all - fusion kitchen will all kind of meals (Asian, south American, etc.) Highly recommended. And best regards to the owner of the business - he's young, full of energy and with positive attitude. Wish him all the best in the years to come!
